Standing 180m tall at 30 St Mary Axe is the towering London venue known as The Gherkin. With its striking architecture, designed by the world-renowned Lord Foster, it is one of the capitals most prestigious and iconic venues. Based on the 39th floor is our stunning restaurant with a panoramic view offers a unique dining experience.
Our stylish 70 seated fine dining restaurant is open exclusively to our members and tenants. The views from every table are stunning showcasing views of the Thames and the London skyline. Chef Barry Tonks, formerly Executive Chef at Les Deux Salons and Arbutus, joined us this year to lead the kitchen. Barry and his team create an innovative range of seasonal based menus using the best ingredients perfect for business dinning or special occasions. Barry says “We cook classic European dishes year round; seasonal sourcing is at the heart of what we do, whilst also being in touch with current trends”

Tonks has been cooking in some of London’s finest kitchens for over 20 years accumulating awards, accolades, press acclaim and a Michelin*
His career began at the iconic Dorchester Hotel, and following success at Chapter One and L’Odeon Tonks moved to Putney Bridge Restaurant as Snr Sous-Chef, working with chef Anthony Demetre, where a Michelin* was awarded within its first year of opening. The next step in this exciting career was Senior Sous Chef with John Burton-Race at his 2 Michelin* Restaurant at The Landmark.
With this outstanding pedigree Tonks took on his first Head Chef position at McClements Restaurant where he made a huge impression with guides, critics and dinners achieving a Michelin* and 3 AA rosettes all within a year of being at the helm.
Other accolades followed as Executive Head Chef at The Threadneedles Hotel, Bonds Restaurant and Bar, and Executive Chef opening Hemingways Nairobi 5* luxury Boutique Hotel.
Now we are delighted that Tonks has been heading up the kitchen with Searcys at The Gherkin as our Executive Chef since November 2015
